It’s always good to hear what others have to say about a product. Here is what Celine from Ohio has to say about the Maxiglide to straighten hair:

“I have been relaxer free since 2004 and I stopped going to the salon and was about to give up until my sister-in-law told me her client with natural hair brought her Maxiglide with her to straighten and said it worked miracles. I gave it a try and this kept me from reverting back to a relaxer. I have heard reviews saying they can break easy and their hair doesn’t stay straight. For one, you have to take your time when using this, using thin sections of hair making sure you can comb through before putting the Maxiglide through it. Also, I have bought other Maxiglides through various other vendors (Folica, Bed Bath and Beyond) and those always break before a year, but the one I ordered off the actual “Maxiglide by Maxius” site is still working strong 5 years plus.  I think the ceramic plates wear down over time and don’t smooth/gloss as well as when new, but I have also cleaned it while hot and scrubbed it which I think took the finish off a bit. Otherwise it will be a SAD day if this product is ever discontinued. I’d probably by 20 of them just to make sure I always have one.”
